Try Coding Classes

The Program Design ToolKit

Objective

Prevent theft and loss of all online accounts.

Abstract

Coding requires a toolkit, a suite of underlying tools that help us get things done at higher levels.

This module is about both - preventing trespassers and not getting locked out. In this module we'll understand the importance of the following elementary tools required to be worry free while coding in the wild.

  • A CellPhone Account
  • An Email Account
  • A Key Manager
  • A Second Factor Authentication (2FA)

We absolutely need these, to make sure both that someone unintended doesn't land up in our stead and we can prevent the loss of access to the work of our labour, so far as possible. We don't want to be locked out of a repository by misplacing our access keys. And we don't want them stolen.

To reliably secure our keys, we'll explore more liberal, open source and privacy conscious options while also gathering an understanding of how these principles matter and are applied.

Suitable For

Anyone who is curious about exploring the initial details around the theory and practice of information security and about exploring additional efficiency in their existing workflows, in both, a free and secure manner.

The contents of this module represent the very first step of what everyone does inevitably, on their first day in the profession.

Requirements

This is a non-coding module and the coursework requires only gathering access to the listed services.

Outcome

  • A setup for managing secure access to all coding related services for subsequent modules.
  • Little initiation into Open Source.
